Vegetarians love tofu because it absorbs whatever ingredients you use to cook it. I used two of my favorites, garlic and peppercorns, for this dish.

Gather all the ingredients and bring out the mortar and pestle. If you don't have one, a food processor is fine too.

Put the garlic cloves and peppercorns in the mortar and use the pestle to pound it into your desired consistency. I like the peppercorns to be finer.

Use a spoon to scoop and mix the concoction as you're pounding away so that the texture is consistent all throughout.

Take the garlic and peppercorn concoction and put it in a mixing bowl. Add the soy sauce, sugar, and green onions to the bowl. Stir it well.
